Join us for the Gingerbread House construction/destruction at Clark College in PUB 161 (Fireside Lounge - click here for a campus map. Bring your unconstructed Gingerbread house to construct, nibble on, and take home! There will be plenty of gluten to go around! There will also be plenty of cleaning supplies and mops, so if you are around near the end, we would appreciate a hand!
GIFT DRIVE: We will have a toy and gift drive for Clark County children ages 10-17 who are presently in foster care or state custody. Though gifts for children under 10-years old are appreciated, we are encouraged to bring gifts for children who are in their teens. With several Whisper runners on the team who have been thought state custody and/or the adoption process, and my father being adopted at birth, this is something that could really benefit those in physical and/or emotional need.
From Linsay Griffin, Office Manager at WA St. Dept of Children, Youth & Families, “A list of items typically requested from our teens:
Wireless earbuds
Bluetooth speakers
Hoodies Larger sizes (Nike has been requested most of the time)
Bath & Body sets/make up sets
Electric razor
Perfume/Cologne
Drones
LED lights”
PASTA DINNER (3:30-4:00pm): Pasta from the Old Spaghetti Factory will be provided.
BYOGBH (4:00-5:00pm): Costco still has Gingerbread Houses, as well as Michael s, Target and Fred Meyer. Again, there will be graham crackers on hand, along with the construction materials to build one in case your child does not have the supplies, or if someone wants to build in-law quarters to their original Gingerbread House.
WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT EXCHANGE (5:00-5:50pm): If your child would like to take part, please bring a wrapped <$5 (gift that costs less than $5) so the kids can play Secret Santa (same as White Elephant Gift Exchange?). I will have a few wrapped gifts in case you do not have time to shop for one. Keep it simple. Thanks!
