BYOGBH, White Elephant, & Gift Drive

The Party Planning Committee has been busy doing committee planning things, this time a Gingerbread House creation party on Saturday, December 7 from 4-6pm at Clark College in the PUB 161 (Fireside Lounge) room (click here for a campus map).  Because the NXN meet is being held in the morning, I am guessing practice attendance will be at 70% of regular numbers.  No matter, we will still have regular practice from 8:30-10:30am, followed by the Gingerbread House creation event from 4-6pm.  You may bring your own Gingerbread House, or create one with the supplies provided (graham crackers, something that resembles frosting, candies, and an assortment of other sugars).  There will be plenty of gluten to go around!  There will also be plenty of cleaning supplies and mops, so if you are around near the end, we will put you to work!

Gift Drive: We will have a toy and gift drive for children ages 10-17 who are presently in foster care or state custody. Though gifts for children under 10-years old are appreciated, we are encouraged to bring gifts for children who are in their teens. With several Whisper runners on the team who have been thought state custody and/or the adoption process, and my father being adopted at birth, this is something that could really benefit those in physical and/or emotional need.

White Elephant Gift Exchange: Feel free to take part by bringing a fun gift for the WEGE (not pronounced “wedgie”). Please limit the cost of the gift to $10. Thank you.

BYOGBH: Costco still has Gingerbread Houses, as well as Michael s, Target and Fred Meyer.  Again, there will be graham crackers on hand, along with the construction materials to build one in case your child does not have the supplies, or if someone wants to build in-law quarters to their original Gingerbread House.

FOOD: If you would like to bring a festive dish (or cookies), that would surely be fun and appreciated.  Please let me know if you do plan to bring any food so I know what to bring (and what not to bring). I will provide the snacks and Holiday music! Parents are welcome to stick around and help.
