Saturday Winter Training - Clark College

Who: Registered runners preparing for the 2019 Track season.

What: Speed-Endurance training for runners ranging from the 100m to the 2-mile. Following training, around 10:30am to noon, we will head to the Foster Auditorium for a discussion around Awareness, specifically how it relates to Self-Talk and Nutrition. Here, guest speaker Laura Demeri, a colleague and dear friend of Coach Dave’s, returns to speak to runners and parents of Whisper Running. Please see Laura’s bio below:

Bio: Laura Demeri received her Masters of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Science from Queens College in New York City.  While in school, she became disenchanted with the information studied under the guise of nutrition and attended the Natural Gourmet Institute  to receive a professional chef’s certificate in health supportive cooking.  It was during this time that she learned how to nourish the body, mind and soul.  Laura moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2005 and taught at Clark College and Portland Community College for over a decade where she honed her skills as an educator.  Her current role as a Health Coach with Kaiser Permanente taught her the skill of motivational interviewing as a new way to connect, engage, empower and inspire those she works with.  Laura is certified by the Health Sciences Institute as a Certified Chronic Care Professional and Registered Health Coach, by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Fitness Instructor, by Power Pilates as an instructor, and is currently pursuing a certification by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and by the Mindsight Institute in Interpersonal Neurobiology.

When: To ensure the most effective use of our time, attendance will be taken at 9:05am, at which time we begin our warm-up, divide into predetermined groups, and complete the first half of our training until 10:30am, at which time we will head to the Foster Auditorium until noon. If you need to pick up your child at 11am (normal conclusion of practice time), please attempt to do so at 10:30am, prior to the meeting in Foster, which lasts until noon.

Where: O'Connell Sports Center at Clark College, room OSC 128 (main gym) until 10:30am, then Foster Auditorium.
